In celebration of Philadelphia VIP's 30th Anniversary, VIP honored

Jay Meyers, a lifelong volunteer and supporter, with the Outstanding Service Award. From 1981 to 2008, Jay dedicated his time and legal experitise to assist almost 300 clients with VIP. Jay's unwavering dedication to provide equal access to justice for Philadelphians exemplifies the highest standards of the legal profession. Jay's legacy continues to be an inspiration to VIP.

Every year, Philadelphia VIP honors its volunteers at the Annual Awards Banquet. The Annual Awards Banquet, attended by over 150 volunteers, recognizes outstanding service by individuals, firms and corporations. For a list of the 2010 Award recipients and a slideshow of the event, click here.

The following awards are presented at the Annual Awards Banquet:

Justice William J. Brennan, Jr. Award

Firms with significantly greater than 15% of their attorneys participating with VIP who also provide other services
Individuals who have given extraordinary time and effort to VIP over several years

Chancellor's Award

Law Firms with a minimum of 30 attorneys that represent at least 10% of the attorneys in their Philadelphia office that participate with VIP
Individual Attorneys and Small Firms who have taken 3 or more cases this year
Clinics and Programs who have collaborated with VIP to match clients, students and attorneys

Corporate Pro Bono Award

Corporations whose in-house counsel and other staff members have partnered with VIP.

Business Recognition Award

Businesses who have provided outstanding support and services to the staff of VIP.

Legal Services Recognition Award

Legal Services staff who provided outstanding support and services to the staff of VIP.

VIPeoples' Choice Award

Individuals who have provided outstanding support and services to the staff of VIP.
