Client has been living in the property owned by her deceased step-grandmother for fifteen years. Client’s step-grandmother died intestate in 2000, leaving client’s step-father as the only heir. Client’s step-father died in 2003, leaving client’s mother, sister, half-brother, and two step-brothers as heirs. Client’s mother, sister, and half-brother are willing to give up their interests in the property to client. Client has not spoken to her two step-brothers in several years and does not know where they are located. She understands that if she cannot locate them, she must go on title with them. A volunteer attorney is needed to assist client with administering the estate and obtaining title to the property.
