Client seeks assistance with a custody matter concerning her 12-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son, who has learning disabilities. OP, who is represented by an attorney, is the children’s biological father. The children have lived with client since OP and client’s separation in 2008. An order entered in April 2016 gives client and OP shared legal custody, client primary physical custody, and OP partial physical custody with one overnight per week. In January 2018, OP filed for modification seeking 50/50 physical custody of both children. In February 2018, client’s son ran away from home to live with OP. Though client can provide more stability, supervision, and support for the children, she wants her son’s choice to be considered so he will not run away in the future. Client wishes to keep primary custody of her daughter, as it is the child’s preference. A volunteer is needed to represent client at a hearing before Judge Papademetriou on November 20, 2018, at 9:00 am.
