Case #19-0043412

Client, who had disabling cancer, has been living in her home since 1993. She moved in under the understanding that the record owner would transfer title to her after she paid off the back real estate taxes of about $16,000. She did this and never heard from the record owner again. Then, in 1999, record owner transferred title instead to his sisters as joint tenants with right of survivorship. She never got permission from the sisters to live in the property, but she kept living there, paying on back real estate taxes and maintaining the property. Client heard that one of the sisters died, but the other sister was still alive last client heard about her. VIP assisted client with completing a Tangled Title Fund application which will be provided to the volunteer.

A volunteer is needed to help client file an adverse possession action to quiet title in order to get title of her home into her name.
