Case #20-0044668

Collections – 20-0044668

Client seeks assistance with a collections matter in Municipal Court on March 6, 2020 at 1pm in Hearing Room 5. Client’s difficulties began with a store credit card that he used only when coupons came in the mail. He stopped using the card because he no longer received coupons or statements. Client later received a letter indicating that he owed $1,700 on the card. Although he disputed this amount, Client eventually received a second letter indicating that the amount due was $4,293. Client believes he was the victim of identity theft because he received notification that someone had tried to open a PayPal account using his credentials. The Department of Justice also notified client that an individual had been arrested for aggravated identity theft in connection with his information. The original creditor was Synchrony Bank, and the plaintiff is debt buyer Midland Credit Management. A volunteer is needed to help represent client at the hearing to dispute the debt.
