Client seeks assistance at an eviction hearing scheduled for Monday, March 9, 2020, at 8:45 am in Municipal Court – Room 3. Client lives in the property with her young son and the son’s father. Client made an agreement with landlord to pay through AirBnB to move into the property for the second half of January 2020 and the landlord would give her a written lease starting February 2020. Landlord then went against the agreement and attempted to illegally lock client out by calling the police and then having the electricity shut off. Defenses include failure to honor the terms of the oral lease and illegal lock outs. Client would like additional time in the property to identify new housing. The eviction complaint seeks February 2020 rent, electric bill, gas bill, attorney fees, court costs, and ongoing rent from the date of filing. Landlord is represented by Michael Williams, Esq.
