Client seeks assistance with a custody hearing regarding her 12-year-old son, that was initially scheduled for April 27, 2020, at 9:00 am, before Judge Daniel Sulman. This will be rescheduled due to recent court closures. In November 2019, client was arrested for violating parole and was incarcerated until December 2019. While client was incarcerated, child lived with client’s sister due to her experience caring for the child who has special needs. When client was released, child began living with client again. In December 2019, the child’s father, who is represented, petitioned for primary physical custody. In January 2020, client petitioned for primary physical custody and sole legal custody. At a February 2020 hearing, a temporary order was issued giving client and father shared physical and legal custody; the parties alternate weekly. Client wants to change the exchange location, which is currently maternal grandmother’s house, because father has threatened maternal grandmother in the past. Prior to this agreement, parties had an informal custody arrangement in which father had custody from Wednesday to Thursday. Client wants to return to this custody arrangement.
