A domestic abuse survivor faces a custody master’s conference initially scheduled for April 1, 2020 at 1 pm with Master Daniel Alvarez. This date, however, will be rescheduled due to recent court closures. The current order provides shared legal custody and grants the client primary physical custody. The child’s father, who is the opposing party in this case, has frequent partial custody. The order also requires the child to be homeschooled. Client would like to reduce father’s partial custody and obtain sole legal custody. The daughter would also like to attend public school. The daughter has been acting for several years with her income going into a trust until she turns 18. The child’s father refuses to cooperate with client regarding decisions on the daughter’s acting. Client is also unable to secure father’s cooperation on medical and educational decisions. Client understands that representation may be limited to the upcoming court date and is willing to sign a pro se entry of appearance at that time.
