Client had a custody exceptions hearing, regarding her two sons, initially scheduled for August 28, 2020, at 1:30pm before Judge Ourania Papademetriou. Due the court’s COVID-19 related closure, the hearing will be rescheduled. The opposing party is the children’s father. Client has reported severe domestic violence during her relationship with the father. Following an incidence of domestic violence in 2006, DHS became involved and the children were placed in foster care. Client followed the safety plan and the children were released to her care in 2008. Since then, the children have lived full-time with client and she has been their main caretaker. The children have never stayed overnight with the father. The father recently filed for partial custody, which was granted in a master’s hearing on November 14, 2019. Father now has custody every other weekend for a few hours. The client filed timely exceptions in December 5, 2019, after the father failed to comply with the new custody order. The client’s goal is to have primary physical and sole legal custody. Client seeks representation for her upcoming hearing. Client understands that representation may be limited to the upcoming court date and is willing to sign a pro se entry of appearance at that time.
