Client seeks assistance at an eviction hearing scheduled for July 10, 2020, at 3:00 pm in Municipal Court – Room 3. Client has lived in the property since 2007. Written lease ended in 2008, and client has had a verbal month-to-month lease since. Client was asked if she would like to remain in the property in December 2019 because landlord was doing renovations to other units, and client said yes. Client was given a 30-day notice to vacate in January 2020, citing termination of term but was not provided a reason. Client began withholding rent in January 2020. There are multiple habitability issues and four open L&I violations. Client wants to remain in the property. The eviction complaint seeks February 2020 rent, court costs, and ongoing rent from the date of filing. Landlord is represented by Todd Baritz, Esq. Client also has a Fair Housing Commission hearing that will be rescheduled. Representation at that hearing is not required.
