Client seeks assistance filing a petition to open a default judgment he received on December 31, 2020. Client was sued in the Court of Common Pleas by Department Stores National Bank after defaulting on payments for a Macy’s credit card in 2018. Client was served in November 2020, but was overwhelmed with personal and professional matters at the time, and did not respond. Client received the 10-day default notice seven days late due to mail delays, and due to the winter holidays, client was unable find legal assistance to help file an answer. Client admits the debt is his but would like to reduce the added interest and fees, as well as negotiate an affordable payment plan. A volunteer is needed to file a petition to open and represent client at the subsequent hearing, if one is granted.
