A domestic violence survivor seeks representation for a contempt of custody hearing on August 10, 2021, at 11:30 am before Judge Elizabeth Jackson. The opposing party is the child’s father, who filed for contempt of custody. The current custody order gives client primary physical custody. Father has partial physical custody every other weekend and every Tuesday and Thursday. The parties share legal custody. Client first withheld the child because father would not comply with child’s dietary restrictions. Father went over a month without attempting to pick up the child, and when he attempted to do so again, client again withheld the child because she feared father would not properly care for child. Father is seeking expedited relief at a hearing scheduled for July 22, 2021, but that is too soon for VIP to assist. A volunteer is needed to represent the client at her August 10 contempt of custody hearing. The client understands that the representation may be limited to that hearing, and she has agreed to sign a pro se entry of appearance at the conclusion of this representation.
