Client seeks representation for a custody contempt hearing on September 28, 2021, at 11:30 am before Judge Elizabeth Jackson. Prior to 2020, client had primary physical custody of her daughter who is now twelve years old. The child’s father had partial physical custody, and the parties shared legal custody. On June 1, 2020, father took daughter to an appointment as planned, but after learning of possible sexual abuse by client’s ex-boyfriend, father called the police, and against their advice, he decided not to return the child to the client. Daughter has been living with father ever since. Father filed an emergency custody petition in Montgomery County, and the court entered an order forbidding client’s ex-boyfriend from having contact with daughter and requiring the Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth to conduct an investigation. Client’s primary physical custody remained unchanged. The next day, however, the order was vacated because all parties live in Philadelphia and the case was transferred to Philadelphia. Client then filed for contempt and expedited relief in Philadelphia. At the expedited relief hearing in March of 2021, the court entered a temporary order, without findings or prejudice, giving client partial physical custody of her daughter on weekends and forbidding client’s ex-boyfriend from having contact with daughter. A volunteer is needed to represent client at the upcoming contempt hearing scheduled before Judge Elizabeth Jackson on September 28, 2021, at 11:30 am.
