An elderly client faces a custody hearing concerning his 17-year old daughter before Judge George Twardy October 15, 2021 at 9 am. The opposing party in this case is daughter’s maternal aunt. Before client married his daughters mother, the child lived with her mother at the home of her maternal grandmother. When Client and mother married, grandmother feared her granddaughter would be taken away and sought custody. In 2018 an order was issued providing that if mother did not live at grandmother’s home, grandmother would have primary custody, mother would have partial, and client had partial custody as agreed with mother and grandmother. Client and the child’s mother sought a modification in the Spring of 2021 because the child was being withheld, and they learned that grandmother was now in a nursing home. Maternal aunt appeared instead of grandmother and was awarded sole physical and sole legal custody. Client has now filed a petition for modification against maternal aunt to be heard on October 15. A volunteer is needed to represent the client at the scheduled hearing. Client understands that representation may be limited to the scheduled date and is willing to sign a pro se entry of appearance when the agreed upon representation is complete.
