74-year-old client seeks representation as a defendant in a quiet title action in the Court of Common Pleas. Client purchased the home in 1983 with his now ex-wife. Client’s divorce was amicable and he made monthly payments over several years to buy his ex-wife’s share. A deed was recorded in 1990 granting client sole title. Client became aware of the case after recently receiving the Informa Pauperis papers; he still has not been served. Client is hard of hearing and does not leave the house except for doctors’ appointments. Client does not recognize the plaintiff and she is unrepresented. Complaint states that she has been taking care of the outside of the house; client says the house is in good condition and he is close with his neighbors who would have informed him if someone was on his property. Client is disabled and afraid of attending court in person. An attorney is needed to represent client throughout the case.
