Responsive client needs help obtaining title to his home in order to address delinquent property taxes. The house and the adjacent lot are currently in the name of his mother, who died intestate in September 2021. Mother left behind two heirs, Client and his sister. Sister has already signed a renunciation letter and is willing to give her interest to Client. A volunteer is needed to assist Client with probating the estate and drafting a new deed in Client’s name. Because Mother received at-home care through Medicaid, the volunteer will also need to inquire with DHS about a claim against the estate, and potentially assist Client with completing a hardship waiver. VIP is assisting client with filling out the Tangled Title Fund (TTF) application to assist with costs associated with the process.
