46-year-old client seeks assistance gaining title of her home through a quiet title action based on adverse possession. Client moved into the property in 2007 and entered a year-long lease to rent the property. After the lease was up, client did not sign anything else, but continued to pay rent until 2013 with receipts to reflect this. Landlord of the property frequently traveled to Puerto Rico, so client would give rent in-person to landlord’s Philadelphia contact. The last interaction client had with this contact was in 2013 Client has unsuccessfully tried to get in contact with both the landlord and landlord’s contact. VIP has found a last known address for landlord. Client started paying real estate taxes in 2017, and has been maintaining the property exclusively since 2013. Client needs title to her home to apply to grant programs to make repairs on her house. A volunteer is needed to assist client to file a quiet title action against the record owner based on adverse possession and represent her throughout the case.
