Client seeks counsel for a custody hearing on July 11, 2023 at 11:00 am before Judge Elizabeth Jackson, regarding her 5-year-old son. Opposing party is the child’s father. Client filed a petition for custody in December 2022. A February 2023 temporary custody order granted Client primary physical custody and granted Father partial physical custody; the parties share legal custody. The matter was relisted for the above date. Client is concerned about Child’s safety while in Father’s care. After a recent visit to Father’s home, Child told Client that another child at Father’s home sexually assaulted him. There is an ongoing DHS investigation regarding this alleged incident. Client also alleges that Father was aware of the incident, and did not intervene or question the involved parties after the incident occurred. Client’s goal is to obtain sole legal custody and retain primary physical custody. Client is agreeable to Father having supervised visitation. A volunteer is needed to represent Client at the custody hearing.
