Hardworking father seeks assistance with a debt collections matter. An arbitration hearing is scheduled in the Court of Common Pleas for April 8, 2024 at 2pm. The deadline to respond to the complaint is October 20, 2023. Client opened a Discover card a few years ago. When client’s hours got cut at work due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he began to close his credit cards and pay them off. Discover refused to let client close his card and they are now suing him for about $3500 when he alleges he only had about $380 left to pay off. Client’s goal is to negotiate the debt down to the original amount and negotiate a payment plan to finish paying that off. A volunteer is needed to represent client throughout the process.
