Case #23-0050613

Organized and diligent client needs a volunteer to help secure her right to title in the home she’s lived in for nearly a decade. In 2015 client moved into the property as a tenant of the record owner. In 2019, the record owner decided she wanted to sell the property and entered into a written rent-to-own agreement with Client. Since 2019, Client has been making payments to the record owner to cover the mortgage, and has paid for all repairs to the home. In May 2023, the record owner told Client that she needed to move out by the Fall, as she wanted to move back into the property. The record owner threatened to evict Client and refused to reimburse her for any of the payments she had put towards the property. Client has proof of the agreement and some of her payments; others were made in cash. Approximately three years of payment remain on the agreement. A volunteer is needed to file an appropriate action to enforce the rent-to-own agreement.
