Client, who has been living in the property for 12 years and is now facing eviction, began withholding her rent in January due to habitability issues in the property. These issues include a rat problem, roach infestation, and holes in the wood flooring. Client states she had an infection in her foot due to a piece of the wood flooring, causing her to be unable to walk and to have to wear a boot on her foot. Client states that she has put her withheld rent in a separate escrow account. There are 4 open L&I violations from April 15, 2024. Landlord has informed Client that he would like to sell the property, and Client would like an appropriate amount of time to search for another place to live.
