The client is a victim of domestic violence and has had a PFA against OP since March of 2017. Although client is uncertain of OP’s whereabouts, she believes he remains in the Philadelphia area. A volunteer could pursue special service if necessary. No divorce action has been filed to date. The client would like legal representation to terminate the marriage and move on with her life. Client seeks assistance with a probate matter. Client is living in a property owned by his deceased common law wife. Client’s wife died intestate in 2019, leaving her siblings as potential heirs. However, if afforded the status of a common law spouse, client would inherit his wife’s entire estate. If not, then deceased wife’s siblings would inherit the property; however, they would agree to the client administering the estate and taking title to the property. A volunteer is needed to file a petition for citation to establish that letters of administration should be issued to client as a common law spouse, and assist the client with probating the estate, and assist the client to transfer and obtaining title to the property.

Client’s father is deceased, but he signed an acknowledgement of paternity in 1988 and paid child support to her mother. Client provided VIP with a certified copy of it. A volunteer is needed to help client amend her father’s name on her birth certificate.
