Join our Team

Philadelphia VIP is a nonprofit that recruits and supports volunteer attorneys to represent low-income Philadelphians who face critical legal issues, but cannot afford a lawyer.

Our permanent staff team consists of attorneys, case managers, and other professionals and is highly collaborative, creative, and passionate about our capacity-building model of service. VIP also hosts law student interns, undergraduate interns, and attorney fellows.

Staff Attorney – Homeownership

Reporting to the Senior Staff Attorney, this Staff Attorney will support volunteer attorneys and clients living in poverty who face critical legal needs, with an emphasis on tangled title. Clients experiencing tangled titles have a legal claim to their home (such as through inheritance or rent-to-own agreements) but do not have their name on the deed, preventing them from accessing benefits and services available to homeowners. VIP is the leading expert on tangled title issues in Philadelphia and, with a four-year grant commitment from the City of Philadelphia, is expanding and enhancing its 20-year-old tangled title program.

The position is full-time and exempt, with a salary range of $58,000 to $63,000, and an outstanding team atmosphere. The deadline to apply is April 3, 2022.

Development Manager

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Manager furthers VIP’s mission by fostering a culture of philanthropy through strategic fundraising efforts and communications efforts.

The position is full-time and exempt, with a salary range of $55,000 to $65,000, and an outstanding team atmosphere. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority give to those received by April 15, 2022.

Homeownership Project Administrator

Reporting to the Senior Staff Attorney, the Homeownership Project Administrator plays a critical role in VIP’s tangled title project. Clients experiencing a tangled title have a legal claim to their home (such as through inheritance) but do not have their name on the deed, preventing them from accessing benefits and services available to homeowners. VIP is the leading expert on tangled title issues in Philadelphia and, with a four-year grant commitment from the City of Philadelphia, is expanding and enhancing its 20-year-old tangled title program.

The Administrator’s primary duty is to manage the Tangled Title Fund, a City-funded program of well over $100,000 that pays for costs associated with resolving clients’ title issues. Key responsibilities include maintaining case files and data, preparing for and leading Advisory Committee meetings, and preparing detailed bimonthly reports. To perform all aspects of this role, the Administrator will develop a basic working knowledge of the key legal issues involved, with attorney support.

The position is full-time and nonexempt, with a salary range of $40,000 to $45,000, generous benefits, and an outstanding team atmosphere. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with a priority deadline of April 15, 2022.

Pro Bono Case Manager – Homeownership

Reporting to a Supervising Attorney, Pro Bono Case Managers play a critical role in VIP’s volunteer-based service model. Focusing on a variety of legal issues, Pro Bono Case Managers have primary responsibility for preparing cases for placement with volunteer attorneys, matching clients with a volunteer, and providing logistical support to attorneys and clients throughout the life of the case.

This particular position will specialize in assisting clients facing tangled title issues. These clients have a legal claim to their home (such as through inheritance) but do not have their name on the deed, preventing them from accessing benefits and services available to homeowners. VIP is the leading expert on tangled title issues in Philadelphia and, with a four-year grant commitment from the City of Philadelphia, is expanding and enhancing its 20-year-old tangled title program.

The position is full-time and nonexempt, with a salary range of $41,000 to $46,000, generous benefits, and an outstanding team atmosphere. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority give to those received by April 15, 2022.

Data and Contracts Manager

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Data and Contracts Manager has primary responsibility for developing, maintaining, and refining VIP’s data sources; monitoring and providing quality control for VIP’s datasets; and planning for future data and technology needs.

The position is full-time (37-40 hours/week) and exempt, with a salary range of $56,000 to $63,000, generous benefits, and an outstanding team atmosphere. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority give to those received by April 15, 2022.

Administrative Assistant

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Administrative Assistant supports VIP’s legal program by supporting case intake; coordinating relations with clients, callers, and visitors; and providing logistical support.

The position is full-time (37-40 hours/week) and non-exempt, with a salary range of $41,000 to $47,000, generous benefits, and an outstanding team atmosphere.  Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority given to those received by April 29, 2022.

Internships at VIP

VIP offers unpaid internship opportunities during the spring, fall, and summer semesters for both law students and undergraduate students.

Are you a recent law school graduate? Join VIP for a 12-week, full-time, paid fellowship in the fall!

The Foster, Flowers and Ziomek Legal Fellowship – named for three Philadelphia lawyers admired for their commitment to pro bono, mentoring, and collegiality in the profession – is a paid opportunity designed to provide a recent law school graduate with a strong foundation to begin a legal career in Philadelphia.

The Fellow supports VIP’s work in the many areas where our clients face critical legal needs, including: consumer, family law, guardianship, landlord-tenant, immigration, tax, tort defense, homeownership, mortgage foreclosure, nonprofit, and small business.
