Roundtable: Identification Issues for Low-Income Clients

Overcoming a legal catch-22

“Essie Corbitt (left) should have qualified for the city’s subsidized housing program. But after years of waiting, one short phrase sent her to the bottom of the list: ‘Photo ID Required.'”

Please join VIP and Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Marc Zucker for a roundtable discussion about name changes and identity documents. All volunteers welcome. RSVP below.

Join us for an in-person, lunchtime roundtable discussion on identification issues on Wednesday, July 12 from 12:00-1:00 pm at Weir Greenblatt Pierce LLP. The discussion will be moderated by Marc Zucker, who specializes in these VIP cases.

Each year, VIP assists dozens of low-income clients who need name changes, delayed birth certificates, and other legal remedies to establish their identity. Without a volunteer’s help, these clients cannot get photo ID or certain government benefits. All volunteers are welcome to discuss these common impediments to accessing identity documents.

Email Lindsay Schoonmaker with questions or to learn about volunteering for one of these matters.
